Happy Birthday Trent!

Wow! Fifteen... I can't believe he's already fifteen years old. Just six more months and he'll have his driving permit. Eek! And One year until he'll be driving... Time passes too quickly when your raising kids, I wish i could just freeze time somehow.
Trent is a great kid. I'm so thankful to be his mom! I guess I don't know what I expected in having a teenage son? But I certainly didn't realize until I hit this phase of life with him that teenagers are really actually a lot of fun! He makes me and everyone else in our family laugh. While he can be a quiet kid, if you give him a minute he can also be hilarious! Kaytlin often looks at me and says " I love our family, we are crazy"! Most of that funny craziness comes from him. He keeps us on our toes! He loves to hide behind things and then when you're least expecting it jump out and scare you to death... Trent also loves snowboarding, mountain biking, four wheeling and video games. He's a great listener, compassionate, extremely helpful to me and his siblings when they'll let him help, he's trustworthy, loyal, a leader, a great friend, does things without having to be asked, awesome at cleaning, and just a lot of fun to be with. Somehow even when he is the normal "teenager annoying" he still manages to make me laugh! Im thankful every minute to be his mom.

She's thirteen!!!

I can't believe Kaytlin is thirteen... It seems like just yesterday we were celebrating her first birthday. She is such a joy to have in our home! Kaytlin is spontaneous, random, funny, a social butterfly, and extremely thoughtful of others and their feelings. I'm so thankful to be her mom. I always hoped that I would have a daughter that I could do the kinds of things with that my own mom does with me. Kaytlin makes me laugh and is a huge help with her siblings. She loves to be around people, write, sew, draw, paint, swim, snowboard, dance, anything sports related, and sing. She keeps me active, and inspires me on a daily basis. I love her so much....

This morning for her birthday we all had breakfast together. Tradition is usually breakfast in bed, however now that they have to leave for school so much earlier, she needed to be getting ready while I was making it. Austin came up from his room so excited about the "Ugly Doll" that he was going to give to her. In his hand was a piece of paper that he said he was going to write a poem on. I told him he better hurry because we were going to eat soon so he didn't have much time to put a poem together. He said "mom I dreamt about what I was going to say".

Austin's poem

"If you ever have a doubt,
give an ugly shout. And
hug the ugly monster".

After eating Austin says to Kate as she was finishing getting ready -

Austin - "Kaytlin keep that poem. Don't throw it away, okay".

Kate - "I won't Bubba, I love it"!

Austin - "K good because when I grow up I might become a writer-ist and if I become famous then you'll have some of my earliest work, and then maybe you could sell it and make lots of money. Then you would be rich because of me"....
