He made it! Only one more year and then he won't have to say "I'm almost a teenager!" Austin actually had the nerve to say to him "Trent I know your not a teenager yet but you sure do act like one!" He had a great day, breakfast in bed, lunch with mom and Grammy, and the ability to do just about whatever he wanted because it was his birthday....

Because it's my Birthday.....

Yeah we finally made it! Ever since January 1st Kaytlin has been reminding all of us exactly how many days were left until her birthday, and this week it came down to minutes and even at times seconds! I actually heard her use the words "because it's my birthday" to her little brother to try and pursuade him to give into her and give her what she wanted, and believe it or not Austin fell for it! She's a smart cookie!
For Kaytlin's Birthday she got breakfast in bed, her brothers split up her chores so that she could sleep in, Grammy and I checked her out of school and took her to one her favorite places to eat, The Olive Garden, and she had a Cook/Wright family Birthday party yesterday where she had a great time visiting with all of her cousins and playing british bulldog. Happy birthday Bug!

7th Grade Orientation
Wow I can't believe it! I am going to have a 7Th grader!!! I just don't know where the time has gone? It seems like just yesterday my little, now big Trent was stomping around on his hands and knees with his Binky in his mouth and his cute little pumpkin head and huge chocolate kisses for eyes making funny baby noises..... and now he is almost 12 and getting ready to receive the priesthood. While I have to say I sincerely miss those days almost more than anything, this new adventure that we are beginning is a lot of fun too.

Trenten's last year to have a valentines box, I can't tell if he is disappointed or not? It may just be the fact that their is a 6th grade dance at school today? : ) Kaytlin's box say's do you have the key to my heart she has used this box every year. I'm hoping it makes it through to 6th grade like Trents.
Happy Valentines Day!

Thank goodness for Grammy! Austin wanted a shark valentine box like Trenten's but the only problem was Trent still needed his box for this last year of grade school, and Rob didn't exactly have much time to throw one together and I didn't exactly know how to make one?! So Grammy put this together for Austin to paint and decorate. He did a great job on the painting and with a little help from Rob and I it was finished just in time to be taken to school for him. Thanks Grammy!!!!

Groundhog Day
(My good friend Cathy and I often share stories about Austin and Matt's conversations because they are always hilarious! She heard this one at her house and I am posting it for you to read so that you can share in the laughter.)
Matt and his friend Austin have the absolute funniest conversations. Mostly they try to out do each other with their far fetched stories. I love to eaves drop and listen in, sometimes I set the record straight, but not always. Here is a sample of one of their conversations:
Austin: You know today is Groundhog Day.
Matt: What's that?
Austin: It's when the groundhog comes out and if he sees his shadow, we can't go to school or work for six weeks.
Matt: What? We can't leave our house!?!?
Austin: No, we can play, just not go to work and school.
Matt: Wicked Sweet!! I hope that he sees his shadow!!
If Only!!!!!!

Werewolves like mom can be scary
I've always known that being a mom is the most wonderful blessing that anyone could ever have, but this morning I was reminded just how blessed I really am. The last few weeks have been kind of crazy, Austin has been sick for what seems like forever. I have had him at the doctor's 3 times in the last 2 1/2 weeks. The first time was for this nasty cough that just wouldn't go away however when we got there his ear starting hurting and Dr. Evans confirmed that he had infected ears. He didn't think however that his cough was anything other that just a cough due to the weather and smog. So... we started some antibiotics, and then we ended up back there 4 days later because he was running another fever which was due to the fact that the medication wasn't strong enough?! So we started a new regimen. Then on Monday he started with another HIGH fever and this time it is an annoying virus that has all the same symptoms as the influenza and aside from that his cough that I have complained about several times to the doctor is now Walking Pneumonia. Rob says Austin needs to stop licking the doorknobs : ). So needless to say I have been reminded lately how precious sleep really is. Aside from Austin being awake all night for the last 2 nights and several sleepless nights for the last little while, just as I had finally gotten Austin back to sleep and successfully snuck out of his bed, Trenten came running through my bedroom door (which scared the you know what out of me) really upset because he had had a dream that he was being killed by a werewolf which turned out to be me. Go figure? I guess I could have been mistaken for a werewolf these last couple of days. Sleep does do a lot for MY attitude. The reason I feel so blessed? Trenten and Kaytlin got up this morning and cleaned up all of the messes around the house so that I could catch up on some much needed sleep. Kaytlin also vacuumed and Trenten got wood from the shed and loaded up the fireplace so that Austin and I could be nice and cozy all day. They did all of this without me asking and they even let me get a little sleep before I had to take them to school. I feel really lucky to be there mom!
