"F" is for father's day ties and farm friends

I haven't had a lot of time to blog lately so I am a little behind. My good friend Jodi invited us over for a fun afternoon of decorating old ties for father's day gifts. It was a lot of fun and it came with a really great poem that was very funny and basically told the dad's that they "GOT" to wear the ties. All the dad's were really good sports and wore them with pride! Later that day we had the privilege of going up to Jodi's farm to see the baby cows and bottle feed them. The kids LOVED this activity and beg to go there almost everyday. Kaytlin wasn't so sure about the fact that the eggs she got were brown and not white. After explaining why that happens she seemed ok with it but declared she would definitely not be eating them, that was ok though because Austin had every intention of eating all 3 of them himself. Right when we got home he asked me to cook them so I quickly did. Just as soon as he was done eating them he went right up to Kaytlin and told her that they were delicious and that they didn't taste any different, it didn't matter though because Kate didn't want to hear it!
Trenten has a natural knack for caring for animals and has been blessed to be able to go back up with Jeff (farmer Jones) who is Jodi's husband and help him feed and care for the animals. He must love it too because he is willing to get up at 6:00 to be ready by 6:30 to leave. Every time he has come home he tells me all sorts of stories that farmer Jones has taught him about farm life : ). If you ever want to know how a cow becomes a steer and not a bull you can ask Trenten, he can tell you!

The ABC's of summer

I used to do the letters of the alphabet in the summer with my kids to get me motivated to do some fun activities with them, but we've had passes the last few years and have been busy with going swimming or to Lagoon or hiking so I haven't needed to do anything to get me motivated. This year however we didn't get passes anywhere and the weather has been to cold to go hiking so..... I decided to start this up again. We went to the Animal shelter for the letter "A" and played with the animals. I have to say that this was a lot of fun and very therapeutic! The kids loved it so much that when we left, they asked if we could do this every week! The Davis County Animal Shelter in Layton has a horse to so if you go, take some carrots and let the kids feed it!
For the letter "B" My sister and I taught the kids how to make banana bread. We also incorporated the letter "C" and taught them how to Cook Swedish pancakes and orange french toast. YUM!
Today I took the kids to the fabric store to pick out some material. I have been promising them that I would let them pick out their own fabric and teach them how to make pillow cases (something very easy since I'm just learning to sew myself) and they did a great job of sewing it all on their own with the exception of Austin. He did do all the sewing by himself it was the ironing that he was concerned about. I'm proud of them for wanting to learn something new and they did a great job! Kaytlin was very helpful with Austin's and I'm so thankful I have her...
Trenten even enjoyed this activity! He did it all on his own and when he was done, he said "it feels good to make something all on my own".
Of coarse Austin picked the skull fabric! I tried to get him to choose something with soccer balls on it but he was set on this one!?!? Between his dew rag and his fascination with skulls I feel like I'm raising a hillbilly? Oh well at least he's a cute one!

Yeah it's summer!!!

My friend Cathy decided to have a little water party on the last day of school to kick off the start of summer. The kids had a great time shootin' each other with the super soaker water guns and playing on the slip n slide. I love watching my kids interacting with other little kids, they say the funniest things! There was lots of good food to eat and lots of fun conversation! Thanks Cathy for putting this together!
Austin being his goofy little self.... Austin said to me a few days ago-

Austin - Mom! Look at my leg, my viens are all shaped like a web!

ME - Really? (I'm actually wondering what he is going to say at this point because he is so concerned with this new developement)

Austin - Yes! ( with lots of exasperation) Does that mean that I have spider Veins?????
This is Abby, Kaytlin's friend from around the corner. Kaytlin came home the other day and said to me " Mom I really like Abby, she is such a delight to be around and she is also a really good example to me". : ) Thanks Abby for being such a cutie!!!
Trenten had a great time soaking everyone at the party! I love seeing him let go of the cool act, and having fun with the little ones. He is so good with little kids and they just love him!

6th Grade Graduation

I can't believe it but I'm actually going to have a 7th grader! Wow this year has just flown by toooo quickly!! It was a fun graduation program, and I have to say that I am so proud of how well Trent has done this year in school. I'm nervous and excited for what this next year will bring...... Love ya buddy!

Happy Anniversary!

It was our 15th Wedding Anniversary on Saturday and we celebrated it by going down to the sand dunes to ride the quads :). We had such a blast together! It was nice not having to worry about anything but ourselves for a few days. I love this picture!!! I wanted to take a pic with our helmets on because I had Helmet hair and Rob thought that I was being a dork but he humored me anyway, however I thought that I would do a goofy face not telling him that that was what I was doing, but he fooled me and did the exact same thing. His face is funnier than mine, but we still think that we both look like a couple of short buser's! I was once told that the longer your together the more you begin to think alike, and this picture proves it!
Yep! This is me! I was so excited because I actually caught some air. It did however happen by accident at first, but once I did it I didn't want to stop!
Rob catching some air! At the risk of sounding gushy - I have to say that Rob is such a great husband and that I am so thankful for him. How many guys actually take the time to do nice things for their wives like make up little scavenger hunts with notes and gifts, and buy them and their sisters-in-law and mother-in-law flowers, give gift certificates for some new clothes, or even just take the time to write a little letter and stick it in the car or on my pillow to find later? I'm really blessed to have him, and I just wanted to express my gratitude for him! Happy Anniversary Babe!

We left for the weekend a couple of weeks ago (I know it's been a while since I have blogged) with the Barnes family and we had such a great time! The kids are so good at riding and can pretty much ride every where that I can so it makes it a lot of fun!

I'm so thankful for them and for all of our friends and family for being their for us through the difficult times! Oh- I almost forgot Notice the Dew Rag (or however you spell that) that Steve is wearing! I love it!! :)

Build A Bear

Cathy and I decided that for the boys birthday's we would take them to build a bear together, and since the train was newly running and FREE we decided to take that into town. Austin and Matt were so excited to be checked out of school early.

Afterwards we went to Costa and got a salad. They had such a great time together. Cathy and I were exhausted by the time we got home! I wish I had endless amounts of energy like Austin does!!
