Traditions

This is one of my favorite Christmas Traditions, I look forward to it as much as my children do. Lucky for me I have a cute neighbor who's hubby is gone a lot at this time of year so the two of us get together as much as our schedules permit and do lots of fun activities with our kids.

On another note, Kaytlin made it into the Geography Bee, and today was the finals for who would go on. First of all, I would like to give her credit for even making it in the first place, and second for doing it. She was so nervous to be up in front of all of her peers. I am very proud of her. If it were me at that age I probably would have been making fake throw up and putting it in the toilet so that my mom would think that I was sick just so that I didn't have to get up in front of everyone. So although she will not go on any further in the Bee, I'm so proud of her for even being smart enough to make it at all! Love you Bug!

Best friends are the greatest!

After many tantrums, and much whining about doing his math homework, a knock came at the door. I told Kate that if it was for Austin to say that he couldn't play until his homework was done. However it was Matt. Now, I have a very soft spot in my heart for this little guy because he and Austin are very best friends, and I love there friendship. So... I told Matt he could come in and wait for Austin to be done with his homework hoping that this might help him get it done faster and with out any further boobing. Matt came inside, and says Austin what kind of math is it? Austin said "stupid hard math!" Matt then says to Austin "oh I bet I could help you do this." They then worked together and got it done in about three minutes. Thanks Matt! After they were done they got to go smash little cars out on the side walk, a favorite activity of theirs. : )
Trent's science cake, he had to build a plant cell and label it. Since he loves candy so much, he decided to build it out of treats. (chocolate cake, jolly ranchers, minni pancake, yarn, gum, and jaw breakers) So creative....

Letter "M" for Mother daughter date, "T" for tie dyeing

Ok this is a pix of the apron that I made for Kaytlin for Christmas. I made a goal last New Years Eve to learn how to sew. I can honestly say that I have wanted to learn how to do this forever! My lines stink but who care's I actually accomplished a NY resolution! I made her an apron because she has been putting together a cook book of recipe's that she wants me to teach her how to cook for one of her Faith in God goals

Yes I am still working on the alphabet. These are some pix of the boys and I tie dyeing shirts for our night together. This was way fun! I love letting my kids get creative and seeing what they come up with. They were even thoughtful of Kate and we made one for her too.
Kaytlin and I had a mother daughter date, and it was a really good time. I love being with Kaytlin because she is so easy going, funny, and loves to talk so I could really just relax and listen to all that she had to say. She is kind and thoughtful of others. When I asked her what she wanted to do for our night out, she said "get ice cream and go to Barnes and Noble and read books and people watch", she's a girl after my own heart. However she later decided that she wanted to go to Target and get some nail polish and do pedicures on each other. She is such a sweetheart! When I was her age I would put plastic baggies on my hands when I would have to rub my parents feet, and I wouldn't do it because I thought it was fun it was usually because I was going to earn a dollar or something.

Any ideas?

I started back to the gym full time this Monday and I am SO SORE from the body pump class that I did on Wednesday! So sore in fact that I decided to cancel going to the 5:30 am spin class and the thought of walking, or going up and down my stairs literally makes me want to cry. Sounds pathetic I know, but it's true. I was also very excited about sleeping in until 7. I warned Rob not to let his scary sounding alarm clock go off more than once, I say warned because he usually lets it go off at least 5 or 6 times and in that 5 or 6 times he lets it sound until I nudge him to turn it off. He was very sweet and I didn't even hear it go off at all. However I received a phone call at 5:16 am from Austin wanting to know if I was at the gym or still asleep? He then asked me if he could open a new cereal box because he didn't like the cereals that were in the closet to eat? 5:16!!! Are you kidding me??? No wonder why he is such a wreck after school! He's tired! Since their was no going back to sleep after that, and so much for my sleeping in, I should have just gotten up and worked out! One good thing that came out of this though is that I think I might now know why Austins' been acting as though his cute little spirit has been body snatched. He's tired. However, how do I fix this? It doesn't matter what time he goes to bed he has always been an early riser. He has been so ornery that I have actually been considering it a good day if I don't lose my patience with him. Any ideas? Seriously!!! 5:16 am!

Nit holes, and a party in your body.....

Yesterday for family night, Trenten prepared a great lesson on keeping the sabbath day holy. He was asking what kind of things you can do on Sunday to keep it holy and why it's important to rest on the 7th day like Jesus did? Austin gave several answers as did Kaytlin. Trent then said how can you tell if your doing something that is breaking the sabbath? Austin then said the Holy Ghost can help you know. I said great answer! But how does the Holy Ghost feel when your making a good choice? Austin: " It feels like a party in your body!" Ya know like all good and stuff... I love the way Austin explains it, he's so right!

Today we were riding over to the ceramics store to pick up something that Trenten needs to have for school and their was a man running on the side of the road without his shirt on. Austin says to Trenten and I, "Gosh put on a shirt guy we can see you nit holes and it's grody".

Trent: what are nit holes?

Austin: You know Trent! Those red things that boys and girls have on their chest......

Sounds sort of like the right word.... maybe I should get his ears checked?

Hug me with some meaning....

I was resting peacefully this morning until about 6:10 am when I heard Austin screeching at the top of his lungs. Apparently Trent who has deemed himself El Hefe (the boss) until I get my tired keister out of bed told him he needed to get his dirty clothes out of the bathroom. Well....Austin doesn't like to be told what to do by El Hefe or anyone else. So... Austin told Trenten what he thought of this in his highest pitched voice that he could pull out of his little lungs. This pretty much makes me laugh because I can just imagine Austin's face expression while yelling at Trent. I was however expecting Trent to get mad and do something mean back but instead I witnessed something I wondered would ever actually happen? My door was slightly cracked open and through it I saw Trent wrap his arms around Austin and say:

Trent - Come on Bubba! Do you need a hug?

Austin - Get your arms off of me!!!

Trent - Come on Bubba let's hug ( he is of course saying this with a little laugh and being a little antagonistic) I'm not letting go of you until you put you arms around me and hug me.

Austin then Hugs him very quickly and says there! Now let go of me!

Trent - That's not a very meaningful hug, try again but this time hug me and smile.

Austin - I then See Austin hug Trent with some meaning and then I heard a loud burst of laughter as Trenten started tickling him.

WOW! Trent taught me something today. Instead of wanting to hang Austin upside down from the ceiling fan every time he cops some attitude with me I guess I just need to just make him hug me and then tickle him to death instead of loosing my temper!!!

Ok, so I promissed I would blog this picture for my cute little sis Jenny. So... here you go. On another note, Life has been pretty crummy this past week. Somehow I got shingles on the roof of my mouth which is absolutely one of the worst things that I have ever experienced. Oh yeah, and I haven't been able to eat ANYTHING!!! Although it has been a yucky week I have had some great blessings by some very thoughtful people in my life. I do want to say thank you to everyone who has been so kind to check in on me, make my family dinner, grocery shop for us, and take my kids so that I could sleep the pain away! I love my ward, neighborhood, Family, friends and most of all my husband who is such a great guy! I seriously feel so blessed to know all of you and I want you all to know that I love you. Thanks!!!
